Small Business Marketing Help - Where do you start?

Many small business owners struggle with properly marketing their business. When asked for help in this area, many don't know where to start, or what the basics are. Let's discuss some basics before we begin indepth discussions of how to progress effectively when it comes to this important topic.

We will make the assumption you first have a viable business with a viable business service or product. If your plan is lacking the economic viabilty than any effort of marketing is a waste of money.

Let's briefly discuss return on investment. This is a concept many small business owners overlook when it comes to starting a marketing campaign or any marketing initiative. Simply put $1,000 effort in a marketing medium to get 100 leads and only $1,000 in sales when your cost is 80% is rediculous. You will never have enough money to get where you need to be. On the other hand $1,000 effort for 100 leads where your product sales for $3,000 with a cost of $1,500, then makes a little bit of sense.

In marketing its commonly referred to the 4 Ps. Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. You need to have a basic concept of what your 4 Ps will be in your marketing. We then need to discuss your marketing medium, your marketing message, and placement. Marketing mediums can range from online, print, television, and radio to name just a few.

I belive the most important and cost effective mediums to begin with is the use of the internet, a small business website, and internet based technologies. Small Business Website Marketing
